2019 is knocking at our door. Our plan is working so far. We are getting the results we want for you and taking measures to strengthen our economy and improve the quality of life of middle-class families.
Since taking office, our government has increased the Canada Child Benefit for 10,880 families in Thérèse-De Blainville. Some 650,000 Canadians have moved out of poverty. We have reduced taxes for 9 million Canadians. Wages are rising, and payroll taxes are at their lowest level.
About 700,000 jobs have been created, most full-time. The unemployment rate is at its lowest point in 40 years.
We lowered the small business tax rate to 9%. We have opened new markets with three international agreements. Canada is at the head of the G7 in terms of economic growth.
We enhanced the Canada Pension Plan, restored the eligibility age for Old Age Security to 65 and boosted the Guaranteed Income Supplement, which is now paid to over 42% of seniors.
We have taken steps to make Canada more inclusive of LGBTQ2 persons. In February, I will hold a town hall with Randy Boissonnault, MP for Edmonton Centre and Special Advisor to the Prime Minister on LGTBQ2 issues, to discuss the challenges facing the LGBTQ2 community in our region.
We have advocated for the rights of women and girls to ensure they have the same opportunities as men and boys have.
We are working to fight climate change and protect the environment. We will gradually eliminate coal, put a price on pollution, protect our oceans and invest in renewable energy and in public transit.
And we will continue to work for you, with you.
